About Us

The Center for Literacy Enrichment was founded in 1972 as a Developmental Reading Program. During the beginning years, emphasis was placed on elementary level school children from the residential area of the White Plains. Over the years, it has developed into a literacy enrichment center, which challenges and caters to students from all over Westchester. The program is designed to enhance reading, comprehension, and writing skills, while building self-confidence and developing individual learning techniques. We are staffed by certified teachers, and have been providing literacy instruction for almost 40 years. We offer:

·      Pre-literacy programs for four-and five-year-olds

·      After school and weekend programs

·      Summer literacy camp

·      Diagnostic pre-and post-evaluation in Reading and Math

·      Private and small group tutoring in English and Math
