Our Summer Literacy and Science Program is a fun and exciting program that brings a multi-disciplinary approach to learning. Offered to students ages 5 - 16, the camp runs full-day and half-day sessions during the month of July. Students enjoy exploring literacy and science through theme-based projects and experiments. Each day also includes outdoor sports and leisure activities and games. Our program is designed to maintain academic skills through the long summer recess.
The program is four days per week, Monday through Thursday. Parents have the option of a half day or a full day. Students are divided into small groups based upon their grade. Children in each group work on individual and team projects, based on a central theme, which is presented by the children at the end of the four weeks. The cost is $975 for a half day, $1275 for the full day. Ask about our sibling discount. The full day program runs from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the half day program is from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Sign up today!
Individual and Small Group Tutoring and Homework Help - Offered After School and on Saturdays
Students at The Center for Literacy Enrichment are evaluated, and programs are designed to meet their individual needs. Instruction to improve reading and writing
skills, and now math skills, is provided in small groups or in private sessions. Tutors
are available for students from elementary to middle school – both U.S. and foreign-born. The program emphasizes a skills-based approach with an emphasis on literature and math. The Center aligns all instruction with the Common Core Curriculum and the New York State Standards. Parents will be delighted with the achievement of their sons and daughters in reading, writing and mathematical skills and improving their comprehension. We take a practical approach to literacy and math education, as students become familiar with every day general expressions as well as the specific kinds of communication needed to carry out their day-to-day living and work.
One-On-One and Small Group Tutoring
One-on-one and small group tutoring has been established as one of the most effective ways to help a child master literacy, math, and science skills. Our program serves students in grades pre-k through 12, helping them to improve their reading, writing, comprehension, analytical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills. Students are evaluated when they arrive at the Center, and we design a customized learning program that meets their specific needs and individual learning style.
First Step Saturdays
First Step Saturdays for Four- and Five-Year-Olds is dedicated to preparing children for kindergarten and first grade with a literacy-based curriculum that is a unique blend of academics and play. We encourage independent learning through a multi-disciplinary approach that includes music, literature, and art. We emphasize language development and student learning, allowing our youngest pupils’ schemas to grow and develop.
Writing & College Essay Workshops
Our writing workshops are designed for middle and high school students. Offered in week-long tutorials, they are designed to help students better understand the fundamentals of writing. Outlining skills, organizing to write, developing ideas, and writing an essay are among the topics we teach. We also offer preparation help for writing the every important college essay. These workshops are designed to build on students’ existing literacy skills, and, for older students, are also geared toward assisting in PSAT and/or SAT preparation.
